Animal Cruelty Bill Gives Bail for Those Charged With Cruelty to Animals

Posted on March 30, 2025July 7, 2026 By Lori Dalrymple

Sen. Peter Oberacker (R,C-51st District) will introduce his animal cruelty bill (A.5820) in the state Senate this year to authorize bail for individuals charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. Slater’s legislation seeks to close this dangerous loophole, protecting innocent animals and reducing the risk of harm to people.
