March 2026 – Jeffrey D. Zehr (44) was arrested and charged with torturing or injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance, a misdemeanor, according to State Police arrest records. Oswego County SPCA said rescuers began removing animals from the property. Among the animals rescued were horses, cows, chickens, cats, guinea pigs, exotic birds and lizard. The SPCA said several mares were pregnant and urgently needed safe stalls for housing.
August 2019 – Jeffrey Zehr, 38, was charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty after State police said they were called to a property where they found evidence of an injured horse that had been allegedly dragged and a month old calf in very poor health. Both animals had to be euthanized. In addition, police said they found 14 animal carcasses and other animals alive but without proper food or water.
