January 2026 – Jonathan Sykes, 21, faces charges of aggravated cruelty to animals, overdriving, torturing and injuring an animal and failure to provide sustenance. In court, he rejected a plea offer. Sykes is accused of abusing a cat in his Kirkland home in August. Oneida County Sheriff’s Office officials said the cat suffered broken bones and internal injuries. A person who suspected the abuse brought the cat to a local vet, which led to the investigation. Sykes is scheduled to return to Court at a later date.
