January 2026 – Anita Martin, 60, of Yonkers, was arrested following a joint investigation by SPCA Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit and the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division. She is charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty and abandonment, the SPCA said. The arrest stems from an incident in November 2025, when a young dog, later named Frankie, was found abandoned near Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers after suffering a severe injury to his neck.
