Jan 2025 – The animal cruelty case against Penny Berk has been postponed. Her attorney requested a delay, which was granted.
Nov. 2024 – Penny Berk was arrested on two additional counts of animal cruelty, bringing the total number of counts against her to seven. Berk has pleaded not guilty.10/2024 – The SPCA Westchester Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE) arrested Penny Berk of Bedford and charged her with 5 counts of animal cruelty involving four sick Bernese Mountain Dog puppies who were being denied proper medical care at Rescue Right in Northwind Kennels, according to officials.10/2023, Humane Law Enforcement officers found two Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mixes displaying severe symptoms of Distemper Virus while in Berk’s care. The dogs were coughing and having difficulty breathing and appeared to be lethargic. The dogs’ condition had deteriorated so much that they could not be saved and had to be euthanized.
7/2023 – Berk was arrested and charged with five counts of animal cruelty when four Bernese Mountain Dog puppies and their mother were found in critical condition and also suffering with the Distemper Virus after being denied veterinary care. All five were discovered to be too sick to respond to treatment and had to be euthanized.
