August 2026 – Mitchell and Terri Ross face seven misdemeanor charges each after 109 rabbits and four Persian cats were rescued from their property following an anonymous tip. SPCA investigators allegedly found 109 rabbits found in a shed with no access to water, meaningful ventilation, and living in piles of feces. There were also some mama bunnies and some babies, including a few deceased ones allegedly covered in maggots. Some rabbits allegedly had urine scald and other conditions requiring treatment. Investigators said the cats were found in the garage, in similar conditions.  Mitchell and Terri Ross are to appear in Lewiston Town Court after which may receive fines and/or be added to the animal abuse registry.
