May 2026 — Vanessa French (57) has been arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals for allegedly intentionally causing serious physical injury to her companion dog by scalding it with an unknown chemical or substance on several occasions. This resulted in her dog developing an infection and burn wounds. Furthermore, she allegedly intended to cause the dog extreme physical pain. Following French’s arrest, the dog was seized by Corinth animal control and brought to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter for evaluation and treatment. Two cats were also seized by the sheriff’s office by virtue of a court order and turned over to the same animal shelter. French was arraigned in Moreau Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
