3500 - First Horse Riding
After analyzing more than 200 Bronze Age skeletal remains in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Hungary and the Czech Republic researchers found tell-tale markers that indicate people were likely riding horses, including characteristic wear marks on the hip sockets, thigh bone and pelvis. According to Alan Outram, of the University of Exeter, there is “earlier evidence for harnessing and milking of horses, but this is the earliest direct evidence so far for horseback riding.” The study was published in the journal Science Advances.
