February 2022 – Ylik Mathews (34) was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly not properly caring for a puppy. According to Suffolk police, Matthews did not feed or provide medical attention to a five- to six-month old female puppy that was found by investigators to be underweight with “several medical conditions.” He was charged with torturing, injuring, and or not feeding an animal, an unclassified misdemeanor under the state’s Agricultural and Markets Law, police said. He is due to appear in First District Court, according to online court records.

June 2008 – Ylik Mathews (21) is expected to be sentenced next month to a year in county jail after pleading guilty to felony aggravated animal cruelty. Mathews admitted to shooting a yellow-billed Pekin duck in March. The duck – named Circles – has fully recovered from the pellet gunshot wound to his throat. The judge agreed to continue an order of protection for the duck and his owner.
