2/2024 – Steven Baker was arrested and charged after the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says he failed to register with the office for the county Local Law Animal Abuser Registry. Steven Baker allegedly failed to register with the office within the five-day window of his being released from prison as he was required to do.

Convicted  1/19/24 – Sidney Police Officers responded to a complaint of animal abuse and upon  arrival noticed an 8-month-old puppy with a gash on its hind leg.  The district attorney’s office said Steven R. Baker, 41, of Sidney, allegedly threw a knife at the dog after he was upset that it got into the garbage. He pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty. Baker’s guilty plea was part of a negotiated disposition where it is agreed he will be sentenced to a year of prison at the county jail. He will also have to register as an animal abuser.

May 24, 2023 — Steven Baker, 41, Sidney, was arrested May 22 and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. New York State Police.

Aggravated cruelty to animals—as defined in Section 353-a of the Agriculture and Markets Law—is not a bail-eligible offense. Individuals charged with this felony are generally released without bail, regardless of the severity of the alleged act.
