April 2024 – Dawn Sabatino (63) was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated cruelty to animals, three counts of Owning/Harboring Unlicensed Dog, and two counts of Torturing or Injuring animals when a male pit-bull mix was brought into a vet suffering from starvation, severe emaciation, and other injuries consistent with animal cruelty.

A welfare check was conducted by Investigators from the Special Operations unit and Albany’s Animal Control unit where it was learned that the owner Dawn Sabatino had two other dogs that were still in her care. Inside the residence were two female mixed breed dogs who were also suffering from being underweight, and injuries consistent with animal cruelty. The two female dogs were transported to Mohawk Humane Society where they were evaluated and are currently still being treated.
