Eastern coyotes area mix of coyote, wolf and dog. They have long thick fur and bushy tails. Ears are large, erect, and pointed. The average length of an Eastern Coyote is 4 to 5 feet (nose to tail) with weight ranging from 35 to 45 pounds (males usually larger than females). Coyotes come in a variety of colors, from from blonde or reddish blonde to dark tan washed with black. Legs, ears and cheeks are reddish. Many have a white chin and a dark spot just below the base of the tail when observed from behind.
