Elsewhere Farm

Nursery's & Greenhouses
Delaware, Southern Tier

Description

At Elsewhere Farm we have a heated greenhouse mostly dedicated to raising microgreens for sale at area markets. We also offer online orders that can be picked up at two convenient locations. Please visit the “Order Microgreens” page https://elsewhere.farm/order-microgreens/ for further information.

Microgreens are edible seedlings harvested at the cotyledon (seed leaf) stage, or just after the emergence of the first true leaves. The cotyledons contain the energy that the young plant needs to survive, therefore eating them will give you the same intense nourishment. They are rich in phytonutrients, and often contain more healthy compounds than their adult counterparts. Microgreens are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Beta carotene, and antioxidants.

Elsewhere Farm’s microgreens are grown in an organic soil-less mix. They spend very little time growing before harvest, and there is never any need for pesticide or fertilization. We do not wash before packaging as that would shorten their shelf life. Please be sure to wash and dry them before consuming. Salad spinners work great, lining the basket with cheesecloth will help make sure you don’t lose even the tiniest leaf. If a salad spinner is not available, they can be washed in a colander or strainer and patted dry with a clean towel.
