March 3, 1646 - North (Hudson) River Flood of 1646

Do to a long and severe winter the North (Hudson) River closed at Rensselaerswyk, and remaining frozen some four months, a very high freshet, unequaled since 1639, followed, which destroyed a number of horses in their stables; nearly carried away the fort, and inflicted considerable damage.
