The Round Lake Preserve is a perfect example of multiple types of open space coming together for the benefit of the public. Visitors of the preserve can enjoy the waters of Round Lake and the Anthony Kill, the wetlands that surround them, as well as protected natural forest buffers and active farm fields.

Preserve Rules:

This preserve is open to the public for nature study, walking, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Please carry out all your trash and leave only footprints. Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times; please clean up after your pet.

The following activities are NOT permitted on the preserve:

  • Cutting, digging, removing, or damaging any tree, shrub, flower, or plant;
  • Hunting, trapping, removing, harassing, touching or feeding wildlife;
  • Use of firearms, paint ball devices, or artificial light;
  • Motorized vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc.;
  • Alcohol or illegal substances; and
  • Camping or igniting fires.

Please follow the rules so that this resource can continue to be accessible to the community.

Directions

From Saratoga Springs, head south on 1-87 S. Take exit 11 towards Round Lake and proceed through traffic circle following the Round Lake bypass and signs for NY-67 E. After approximately 1.7 miles turn right at the sign marked “Round Lake Preserve”. The preserve contains two parking areas – one for unloading and handicap parking near the wetlands, and a second lot at the beginning of the trail for longer-stay parking.
