Washington Square Animal Hospital

Description

Washington Square Animal Hospital has been a fixture In Greenwich Village since Dr. Ben Rosenfeld opened it in 1962. It is located in the same brownstone on 9th Street off Fifth Avenue and continues to serve the area's residents as the neighborhood vet. Dr. Lucas started working there in 1980 and purchased the practice in 1982.

Washington Square is a full-service animal hospital providing complete medical, surgical and dental services for dogs and cats.

Several of the nursing staff have been with WSAH since Dr. Lucas purchased the practice while others have been a part of the practice for years and years. David is the head nurse, Jane is the night nurse and Yvette is the day nurse. I have photos of David and Jane attending my wedding in 1984 and Yvette holding my daughter, Molly in 1986. They all take wonderful care of patients and share their homes with many fortunate rescued pets.

The reception staff is more recent. Addie started as a client in 1989 and made a passing comment offering to help out if we ever needed it. Well, we needed it then and obviously still do. "Classic" Joan -- though retired--still stops by to make sure the place is running smoothly.
