October 2021 – A baby cam recorded Samantha Valentine throwing her 10-month-old son across his bedroom three times, seriously injuring his brain and leading to her being sent to the Albany County jail on three counts of attempted murder, according to police and city court records.Other charges that Valentine could face is animal cruelty when six ferrets, four cats and a dead squirrel were removed from the property during the attempted murder investigation.
2019, Valentine was charged with two felonies after police said she sold city residents kittens that died shortly after being adopted. That investigation began after police received complaints about the condition of the kittens. Valentine, they said, was posing as an employee of the Kitten Angels, a nonprofit adoption agency, in order to start her own adoption business. Valentine previously had been fostering kittens for Kitten Angels but was never given permission to sell them. The nonprofit had revoked her foster permissions after previous incidents. The investigation revealed that Valentine had given buyers fake documents that she took from Kitten Angels. During that investigation, police removed 12 kittens and two dogs from Valentine’s home after a court order to surrender her animals. All of them were taken to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands. Valentine was charged with felony counts of possession of a forged instrument and forgery. She also was charged with misdemeanor scheme to defraud, injuring/not feeding an animal and sale of a deceased animal.
