Monachan, Sherin
Feb 2024 – West Haven, CT, Animal Control Officers were dispatched to a complaint of animal abuse and arrived on the scene shortly after to investigate the complaint. Upon reviewing the businesses surveillance footage, Animal Control Officers observed a female sitting in her vehicle with a dog in the front passenger seat. While parked in front of the business, the female was seen punching the dog approximately 36 times in various parts of its body, including the head, face, and stomach. The female was later located and arrested. She was identified as Sherin Monachan (28), of Merrick, NY. The dog has since been seized by West Haven Animal Control and is being held in a safe location until a court ruling is made on the matter.
Monachan was formally charged with Cruelty to Animals and was held on bond at the West Haven Police Department.
