June 5, 2017 – Christopher Koenig (20) was placed under arrest and faces animal cruelty charges after police say about 100 exotic animals were found to be in poor condition inside his home. The Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals went to Christopher Koenig’s home for an investigation and discovered that multiple animals were being kept in cages and tanks in the basement of the residence. The SPCA removed the animals from the home. Koenig was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and failure to give food and drink. Koenig was released on an appearance tickets

January 2018 – Christopher Koenig was arrested for Aggravated cruelty to animals after Nassau County SPCA Detectives followed up-on a court-ordered ban of possessing animals. The officers observed three Chinese softshell turtles in water in a sealed plastic bin outside with the temperature approximately 31 degrees Fahrenheit. This caused two of the turtles to freeze to death. The third turtle to become stunned, have a depressed mentation, cold stress, also sustained on its head a circular open wound which went all the way down to the bone, necessitating veterinary treatment.
