6/2015 – Albany, NY – Rachel Fasnacht, 24, and Deric Peterson, 31, of Troy, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of torturing or injuring animals by failure to provide proper sustenance, a misdemeanor after firefighters responding to a call to the city Codes Department concerning the living conditions of the home. The four dogs and nine cats were taken to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, where the one animal was put down. Police determined Peterson was one of the people responsible for the pets’ care, and he was charged. Peterson was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years of probation and is prohibited from possessing or living with animals during that probation. r
