5/2022 – Dr. Javiier Diaz (46), a veterinarian who owns Main Street Animal Hospital in Elmsford has been arrested on charges of forgery, six counts of animal cruelty and assault following an investigation by the SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit, Elmsford Police and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. It is alleged that Diaz physically abused pets that were brought to his hospital in six occasions. It is alleged that Diaz, 1) hit a two-month-old kitten on the head with a nail clipper designed to cut dogs’ nails and then jammed into the cat’s mouth causing it to sustain a laceration to its gum and palate, 2) punch a Shiba Inu dog in the ribs, 3) twisted a Retrievers front paw and jabbed a nail clipper in its ribs and then kicked the animal, 4) kicked a German Shepherd in the chest and then twisted and pulled its ear that was being treated for an infection and kicked the dog a second time, 5) punch a dog to make it stop crying, and 6) choked a Shih Tzu causing it to almost lose consciousness.
